Towner is such a compelling character. I think I've wrapping my mind around the whirlwind,surprise ending, but I do have one question/comment/complaint. To my mind Great Aunt Eva is not Towner/Sophya's great aunt, no matter how you look at it. As Eva married Towner's grandfather and proceeded to have Emma with him, then Eva would be Towner's grandmother (or step-grandmother when you believe that May is her mother). Yes? Am I splitting hairs? What do you think? These kinds of things can drive me crazy, even within the context of a novel that I've thoroughly enjoyed, as I did this one!
